Spreadin' the Love

Wednesday, January 12, 2011

My blog is just about a year old now and I have to say the thing I've enjoyed most about the whole process is connecting with others who share a love of design and beautiful interiors.  But it's not limited to sharing a common interest, I've learned so much from everyone!  It's such a great forum for learning about how others approach design, how you run your businesses and I've even been motivated and inspired by your encouragement!

So, I'm humbled and honored and thankful to have been nominated for the Stylish Blogger Award from Kathy at My Interior Life and Casey at Loft and Cottage.  Now comes the part where I share 7 things about myself you may not know.

1.  I am married to my high school sweetheart for 25 years this May!  No, every day has not been a walk in the park, but he's my best friend and biggest supporter and I can't imagine my life without him. We share two sweet girls, Alyssa is 18 and Shelby turned 12 on Saturday.

Aaaw- teenage love!  (Don't judge, it was the70's!)

And today (well, 10 months ago, in Nashville)

2.  I am an animal lover and ever since I've been an adult living on my own I've never had less than 3 dogs at one time.   Most all have been rescues and strays, and I have a real soft spot for Basset Hounds, the world's most untrainable breed! I have passed this gene on to  my girls, and we've had horses, dogs, rabbits, snakes, guinea pigs, tree frogs, and the occasional injured bird.
This is Shelby and I with our latest addition to the family, Ellie

3.  Both sets of my grandparents came to the U.S. right after they got married. My heritage is Italian on my mother's side, and Swedish on my father's side. What does this mean for me?  I'm a pretty good cook and I get sunburned easily!
4.  Levi's are my favorite jeans.
5.  My closets are not neat.
6.  I've always been an entreprenuer.  I have owned my own riding stable, tack store, had a historic home restoration business with my husband. I am now working on building my newest venture, The Green Room Interiors.
7.  I love trees, flowers, birds and all of God's beautiful creations.

Now I have the priviledge of passing this award on to some of my favorite bloggers.  Hope you can get by each one of their blogs to say hello!
1.  Caroline at A Flair for Vintage Decor
2.  Julie at Monkey Grass Hill
3.  Sara at A Dose of Pretty
4.  Jade at Flip Flops and Pearls Design
5.  J and J Home
6.  Jeanette at Everton Terrace
7.  Barbara at Hampton Hostess

Now it's your turn to share 7 things about yourself and pass the award on to 7 other Bloggers you admire.

Prayin for sunshine....

Hi Kim,
First, that was so fun to look at the old photos and so forth - loved them. I'm also an animal lover and am the one people call when there is a stray or a new litter of something or another. We had 4 dogs and a cat growing up (all at one time).
Second - thank you for passing this award onto me, nice surprise. I'll have to ponder for a while to see what I can come up with.

Dear Kim,
What a nice surprise a HUGE honor on this SNOW DAY! I'm such a fan of your blog and thought it was great that you provided us with old photos and shared your story. (I love animals too--If I didn't live in NYC I'm sure I would have a small zoo!) Will work on sharing the love--THANKS so much! xxBarbara

Help we just got a basset hound puppy for Christmas. He is stubborn as all get out. How do you train them. I will take all the advice you have to offer. Truman is his name and he is very active for a basset. We love him.

Kim,
I don't know if you ever got my e-mail response to this, but I do want you to know that I'm so touched that you nominated me --REALLY touched. I've been wracking my brain ever since trying to come up with 7 things to say about myself. Still working on it... how sad is that?....

But thank you!!
