In the details - lamp finials

Sunday, January 23, 2011

Lamp finials are a fun (and cheap) way to add the finishing touch to your favorite lamps. There are so many great options to choose from - and if you're feeling crafty, you can even create your own.

Of course, these are from Martha Stewart

High drama from The Peak of Chic

Cute for your beach-inspired room.

Mother of Pearl from Lamp Finials.com

Shades and petal finials from Shades of Light

Whimsical bird finials from Chattanooga's Stray Dog Designs

And if you're lucky enough to find them, vintage finials are hard to beat for adding character

Have a bright start to your week!

I only have one lamp with a finial and I do think it gives it that little something extra. Great post to remind of of the little details.

I have such an affinity for lamps finials! It doesn't seem like they would make a big difference, but there's a shop close to my house that carries a wide variety, and selecting the right one really does take some time. I love the pinecone ones, too.

BTW, i love your new (to me) layout--nice!! :)

What a great selection! It is hard to find these in the stores - making them yourself is a great idea!

I have so much trouble finding the right lampshades for the fun vintage lamps I come home with. I have two in my house right now waiting for one - bare bulbs.

These are great! I'm big on finials, also fan pulls. It's all in the details! ;)

I think custom finials add a great finishing touch to a lamp. I actually have a lamp that I made that could use a finial, but it seems that I never getting around to dealing with it. :-) Happy Monday!

Kim,
I love the pincone finials! I will use that idea, totally fits my style! I have a deer lamp and the finial is in the shape of a antler which I love. I miss riding a lot, sounds like you were really involved do you still ride?

I've never experimented with finials before--what a great way to add a little extra something special to a room!

Funky finials are in! Good post-i was debating over on of those stray dog finials the other day-love the flower ones they have.

Perfect timing on this post for me, as I'm in the process of updating some lamps. Finials really CAN give it a custom look!

Finials seem like the perfect project for someone who has a mostly finished room. Do you know anything about pretty pull chains?

I've never thought about replacing the finials on any of my lamps, but it makes sense. Sometimes lamps have pretty generic finials. Great idea!
