Falling for Waterfall

Thursday, January 31, 2013

Lame name for this post?  Guilty!  But that doesn't stop me from loving a console/kitchen island/desk with a waterfall design.  And isn't it perfectly named, with its fluid,  continuous line(s)?

Waterfall kitchen islands have been popping up everywhere, particularly in marble. The ceramic duck is an interesting choice.

Ahh, the perfect textural mix: marble, brick and woven shades.

This OKL waterfall console is the stuff dreams are made of - my dreams, anyway.

Waterfall consoles look great with x-benches tucked underneath, as Sarah Fisher did in her living room.

And so lovely as a coffee table, too!

This space is a little mod for me, but that waterfall dining table? Stunning.

In all of my years of scouring little antique malls and thrift shops, I've yet to come across one of these beauties. Have you seen any out and about?

Hi Kim,
I have a waterfall console in my den and waterfall edge in the "new" laundry room. I agree....I love the waterfall. - Brandy

Ok, my disclaimer is that I remember these the first time they were in vogue! I love the straight edges on the island, but I just can't get the my grandmother's waterfall dresser out of my head. (She would have been almost 150 years old!)

The image with the brick wall is one of my favorite kitchens.

Big fan of those kitchens and I like the consoles one day and not the next.I am just a fickle girl.

I love this look on a kitchen island! It looks so clean and chic. A much more attractive look than the typical raised bar-top at the end of so many islands.
Oh and I'm so glad you can relate about the social media- it's exhausting! :)

You are reading my mind on this one. I am so sorry I did not do this to my kitchen Island. Although that is a lot of money for unused stone, just decorative.

I love both versions - the kitchen counter and the console! Does anyone know why they're both called waterfall edges when one is rounded and the other square? To me, the console's rounded edge makes sense, but it seems the hard, squared-off kitchen island version needs a different name to me. I obsess over the stupidest details!
