Loving Lonny's Layered Look

Wednesday, September 14, 2011

Have you had a chance to peruse Lonny's latest issue?  There's so much to love there, (particularly Celerie Kemble's New York City project).  What I'm most enamored with is how beautifully layered all the spaces are.  They're so more than an assemblage of pretty furnishings in coordinating colors. The rooms don't feel sterile or "staged";  instead they feel comfortable, collected and interesting.  And they all have that one element we all strive to create - soul.  Take a look and see what you think.

Look at Celerie Kemble's dining room.  Nothing really "matches", yet it totally works.  There's mix of furniture styles, colors and textures.  And did you catch the marbleized wallpaper?

These next two images having me pining away for lacquered walls.

Kim I love the layered and collected look, although I am also de-cluttering!! Which is actually a great feeling!

This may sound vague but I actually love both looks as long they are well designed! Love the images you picked!

Comfortable, collected, interesting--you said it! I love a layered look, and I'm in awe of Lonny lately. Cannot believe I haven't checked out the latest yet--you've certainly persuaded me I need to get on it!

WISH I could afford the lacquer walls/ceilings I do for clients. They are always so fantastic...sigh.

I do love a layered look! It's funny- I'll start out strictly edited but then I always add layers because there are so many things I love. I do think you can/should edit the layers as you go. I guess I'm a fan of an edited-layered look :)

I do love layered, but it is so hard for me to strike a balance between cluttered and edited. Trying to have a clean space for the eye to rest in each room helps. I think? If layered means a mix of styles and collected, I'm all over that!

I like a nicely edited, layered space....how is that for an answer? I do like a collected look.

I love looking at rooms like these. I would love to walk through them so that I could look at every last little detail. Layered rooms are always so interesting.

I haven't had a chance to check out the issue yet. Luckily, I have a nice whole weekend ahead of me...
Can't wait.

for me it's a tossup....sometimes I am anti clutter and just want to edit-edit-edit, and then other times I am more drawn to the layered look---I think because, like you said, it is easier to get that feeling of 'soul' with more layers
