It's new to me

Wednesday, February 16, 2011

My hoarding tendencies have been in overdrive lately, what with thoughts of keeping the shop stocked and making changes in my own home (which is still in the planning/dreaming stage.) So when great pieces like these present themselves, what's a girl to do?

Consignment shop score.  It's going to stay at my house for a while, then maybe head over to the shop?

Fabric detail

These Chinoiserie lamps will go to the shop

Pretty brass Greek Key detail on the base.

And another pair of Chinoiserie lamps

Better with a shade, right?  The bases are a really dull yellow and are certain to meet a can of spray paint (Emerald green?) topped with a coat of lacquer.  Keeping these for my dining room.

This will stay with me and go in my foyer.  It will be sprayed high-gloss white and be reupholstered in this?

Finally, I'm putting the finishing touches on these French twin beds (I have both) They were that lovely dull cream color that was all the rage in the 50's/60's.  I've given them a wash of gray and then a coat of liming wax.  They'll be in the shop this afternoon. (Oops.  Just realized I photographed this with the footboard upside down.)

Any great pieces found you lately?

First off....LOVE the yellow lamps...stunning even that color with a white or soft white shade could be amazing but yes in an emerald green, equally amazing..please show us if you do. Love the french twin beds and the first chair if reupholstered in something fresh and new could totally be reinvented! Lots of fun to get creative with these projects, isn't it? Oh my gosh, Kim. Here I thought you won the lottery with the wingback chair, then you show us that you really walked away a winner with those lamps and the bed! SO jealous!

Isn't it the most fun to run across classic pieces. I'm old enough to remember those on the first go-round! Mostly, I love how much you enjoy color, cause I do too. The items you're keeping are clearly going to be amazing!

Great finds! I can't wait to see how those lamps turn out painted green and the chair with the peacock fabric will be stunning. I have the bad habit of buying stuff that is just too great to pass up but I don't have the excuse of buying it for my shop. You are such a lucky girl.

You've found some really great pieces. Whoever ends up with the lamps with the Greek key detail is one lucky person. I'd have trouble parting with those.

Amen to green, glossy lamp with black shade! It's gonna be a beauty! Would it be remiss of me to suggest chair placement where the plant now stands? Tell me to mind my own business.

Hopefully I will soon have a place to hoard my stuff as well. And will no longer have to start a phrase with "honey now hear me out"

Great finds the chair especially.
