Latest Finds

Here's a roundup of my latest favorite acquisitions.  Like my children, I love each one of them the exact same amount! And that's a just a whole bunch.

I have 2 of these Mid-Century armchairs with needlepoint seats.  I'd love to see them painted, but the wood is beautiful and in flawless condition.  They are staying with me for now, and I'll  probably use them over at Project Dollhouse in the woodsy-goes-glam family room.

Beautiful old alabaster lamp.

Covered porcelain jar.  Apparently I think you can never have too much of this stuff.

I have a pair of these side tables.  They are rattan-ish.  Lots of  inner turmoil on whether or not to paint them. Cool enough as they are, could they be even cooler if painted?   How do you vote on that?

2 and 2/2 onyx eggs.  I dropped one.

Fabtastic gold cocktail table, complete with groovy Mid-century details. May work in the aforementioned woodsy-meets-glam family room.

Have a lovely weekend - the weather is glorious here in the south!!

Seashells after summer?

Monday, September 5, 2011

Summertime always makes me think of family trips to the beach and going shelling!  At least once a day, we walk the beach with our eyes cast on the surf to find unbroken seashells to clean up and bring home - although what happens to them after that is a mystery :(

Now that summer has reached its unofficial end, does that mean it's time to remove all signs of seashells from your decor?

So clever to use this giant clam shell as a vessel to hold the sea sponges!

Although seashells do conjure up memories of long summer days at the beach, I kind of love them year-round.  How about you, do you pack up your seashells when summer's over?

Painted Dining Chairs

Sunday, August 28, 2011

Over at  Project Dollhouse, the kitchen is laid out well and it's functional, but there's no room for a dining table and chairs.

This means the formal dining room, located just off the kitchen,  has to be used for every day meals as well as special occasions.  The plan for the dining room is to carefully straddle the line between formal and comfortable, and one way to achieve this is by combining more formal dining room furniture pieces with chairs painted in a fun color.

This is so lovely.  I love the Chinoiserie styling of the chairs mixed with the French table. And the color palette is so fresh.

That red lacquer finish is amazing!

I like this mix of chair styles that are unified by the turquoise paint.

I hope to have some pictures up for you this week of the progress at Project Dollhouse. Painting continues and the bathrooms are being prepped for tile.

Hope everyone along the East Coast is in a safe and dry place!
