Painted Dining Chairs

Sunday, August 28, 2011

Over at  Project Dollhouse, the kitchen is laid out well and it's functional, but there's no room for a dining table and chairs.

This means the formal dining room, located just off the kitchen,  has to be used for every day meals as well as special occasions.  The plan for the dining room is to carefully straddle the line between formal and comfortable, and one way to achieve this is by combining more formal dining room furniture pieces with chairs painted in a fun color.

This is so lovely.  I love the Chinoiserie styling of the chairs mixed with the French table. And the color palette is so fresh.

That red lacquer finish is amazing!

I like this mix of chair styles that are unified by the turquoise paint.

I hope to have some pictures up for you this week of the progress at Project Dollhouse. Painting continues and the bathrooms are being prepped for tile.

Hope everyone along the East Coast is in a safe and dry place!

While painting dining room chairs I feel its better if you can provide neutral colors like white, black or brown instead of pink or red. Pink and red looks good but it dosent go well with all settings.

My favorite inspiration photo is the first one, which manages to be both fun and formal at the same time. Love the idea of color, but I also like keeping some formality by using all the same chair.

Love painted dining chairs (although I'm biased as I have some white ones myself). They're so fun and can definitely shake up a more traditional table.

Hi Kim! We are moving into a condo. They say it has a dining room, but it really isn't. It's so small that I will be using my current kitchen table and chairs. I will probably try to achieve this type of look as we will eat our everyday meals here. It is an open floor plan and is between the kitchen and the living room; kind of awkward really. We also have a small counter for stools.

Painted chairs would be a fun way to bring color into the room. I'm really looking forward to seeing all the choices you make and how you bring it all together.

Painted chairs can be lovely too. For a change from contemporary varnished chair. I like your post.

I have never experimented with colored dining chairs. But the above pictures are giving me inspiration. I think I need to give it a try when I move to my new house.

Wooden chairs are timeless and durable. Plus, you won't ever have to worry about spilling food because a wood chair is easily cleaned. Whichever level of firmness is best for your room, you'll be happy you chose with your family's requirements in mind.
