Hoarder

Sunday, May 22, 2011

I can't believe it's been a year since I decided to open my booth and I'm very happy I took the plunge.   The extra money has been great and it feeds my creative side, too.  Oh, and then there are the perks - you get to keep your favorite new finds for yourself and you have a way to sell the things you no longer want.  There are also those treasures you hang onto because they are so fabulous that you're sure you'll use them "someday when you redo __________ ."(insert room of your choice here)

Here are a few of my secretly stashed items.

Oh how I love this faux bamboo mirror.  But I think I will be able to part with this one - (it's a bitch to clean)

I have about a dozen more mirrors - these were the easiest to get to. And then there are the chairs...

I'd love to redo this chair in this fabric

Already bought fabric for this one (and others - but that's a whole different post)

I was so excited to find a pair of these charming Bentwood stools.  I was sure they would work in my kitchen at the island but they're bar height, and I need counter height.  They looked shorter in the store.  Bummer.

I love the geometric mat on these Chinoiserie prints.

These prints are like small doses of DeGournay - and probably as close as I'll get : )

Just when you thought we were done with mirrors. This one's a keeper.  I'll use it for Project Kim's Dressing Area.

We could go on forever with the lamp edition.  I have a pair of these incredible turquoise glass and brass lamps.

I also have a pair of these very faded amber glass and brass lamps that I'm keeping in the personal stash.  The color is pretty bad right now, but I have friends who can fix that...

Is there a cure?

Lucky lady. I'm in the hoarding stages right now. I have my finds, my sisters, and all my regular stuff packed in my house. I'm needed to do a garage sale ASAP.

Oh, Kim, we are all alike aren't we? I just wrote about turning into a hoarder as well!

You have reaffirmed my belief that the solution is not to stop hoarding, but open a booth ;)

Sadly, I don't think Philadelphia has that sort of thing.

Lovin' that top mirror!

Oh, I would LOVE to have a booth - perfect way to "justify" a weakness for lamps, mirrors, etc. I think I'd be in trouble! ;) I wish shipping wasn't such a hag, I'd be snatching up some of your chairs for projects at my sister's casa that I'll be working on this summer in TX!

You are not a hoarder!!! If you are, then what does that make me?!

I collect mirrors, lamps, and dishes the most. I really need to stop it, but dang, I find some great pieces!!!

I love the first chair with the tufting! And all of your lamps are beautiful!

Who would want a cure? I'm in the same boat. It can be a problem, but I think you're managing your addiction/hoarding well! Love all your finds!

The difference between us and the hoarders on TV is our stuff is better...that is all :)
I could not part with those things either...they are all beyond cool!

Kim, I want that shield mirror. I take it back. I want all of your mirrors! Congratulations on one year. I think it's awfully cool that you took the plunge AND that you are making money doing it. Good for you!

Wow, time really flies when someone else is doing all the work! Congratulations on your anniversary--what fun!

I too struggle with crossing the hoarder line--not having a garage helps!

Oh my goodness! I love all of your keeps, but where do you put it all? I wish I had the room to hoard :).

I'm laughing at Sherry's comment!
I have the same thing going on... got into the wedding business. Need props. Always looking for stuff and how can you pass up a great deal, right? We finally got a storage unit which helps tremendously ... but now that we have more room ... well you know.

I always love seeing what you've found. I see you have a love of mirrors like myself. I spotted one similar to the first one you showed online and the retail price was almost $500.

I am sorry, no cure, no vaccine. You will have to continue to collect tasteful items. I think you should look at this as a rescue mission for lost treasures.

My friend and I joke all the time about how we need to share a booth to legitimatize our habit :)
You've accumulated some great pieces!

All your mirrors are fabulous but my favorite is the one you keep for yourself. And I also love the beautiful blue glass lamp.
