Design Trends - Driftwood

Wednesday, August 25, 2010

Have you discovered the rustic beauty of driftwood?  It's a trend that's popping up everywhere, and I love the rustic, earthy quality it conveys.

Contrast at its best!  The rough texture of the driftwood is enhanced by the slick surface of the mirror, creating just as much tension as your mother-in-law's weekend visit - only prettier.

Pretty sure you won't see this console over at your neighbor's house!

Modern room + weathered coffee table  = unexpected beauty!

Lots of driftwood lighting options...

The good kind of chunky.

Random driftwood beauty

Trend or true?

Yes, I love it! Especially paired with clean finishes...the chandelier and last lamp are my favorites...but also love them as a coffee table or like a garden stool in a room! Take care, Caroline

I love driftwood-they showed lots of it at the gift show. one of my favorite pieces was a pendant light, Chippendale style-very chic!

I've been noticing the driftwood too! I like it - especially for a quaint little nook!

I like all the driftwood I have been seeing, especially when it's paired with more modern furniture. It brings character to a room!

I love the texture that driftwood pieces bring to a space. Done in small doses I think this trend could be here to stay.

I love it for accessories and lighting, but I'm hesitant to invest in large furniture pieces...

I think it's quite true, people going more green and back to mother nature. it looks great as long as you can pull it off and match with a matching decor around it. Other than that, it surely make a great fashion statement and a conversation starter ;) LOVE the mirror on the first image!

I think it's definitely tried and true :) Lovely ode to it here! I have a coffee table from about 13 years ago. It was slightly popular then. My sister's friend paid top dollar for it and threw it curbside when it's lost it's trendy moment in time. I snatched it up and now I can go tell it that it's time to shine again :) Everything cycles, but I think it's always been a beautiful touch!

I think it's both trend and true depending on how it is used. I love the look of driftwood in small doses like lamps and small accessories. I am using some very small pieces in a project I am working on now!

And, Thanks so much for the canopy bed help! I think that one is the winner and I don't know how I missed it.

Oh yeah, I love it, always have. Just don't have any in the house yet, hmmm, that needs to change.
