$100 Home

Monday, June 28, 2010

Here in Chattanooga some lucky person paid only $100 for this home!

This is the St. Jude Dream Home that was built in the Overlook community as a fundraiser to benefit  St. Jude Children's Hospital.  The hospital is devoted to treating and researching  childhood diseases and was founded by Danny Thomas in the early 60's.   Treating sick children is the highest priority at St. Jude Hospital and children are never turned away due to the parents inability to pay the bill.  They rely heavily on private donations and fundraisers, so even if you are not holding the winning ticket for the Dream Home, it's a win-win for everyone!

Here's what the winning ticket holder got for their 100 bucks:

This is the study, located just off the entry hall.

The dining room, across the foyer from the study

Kitchen (love that pretty tile backsplash)

Breakfast

Family room, open to breakfast room & kitchen

Downstairs guest bedroom

Maser bath

Remember to count your blessings this week - healthy children are the greatest blessing of all!

St. Judes is such an amazing place doing great things wisely with the donations they receive. That's a cool idea for a fundraiser. I hope they remember to tell everyone that they still have to pay the market value taxes on their $100 home! Thanks for sharing this.

The founder of St. Jude Childrens Hospital grew up in my home town so this charity is quite well supported in our community. They do a Dream Home here once a year too. It is a fantastic organization. I can't imagine being the parent of a sick child and having to worry about medical expenses.

what a brilliant thing here. The St. Jude hospital is a great thing, and you are right: healthy children are the greatest blessing of all. that is SO true! We have the Scottish Rite hospital for Children here locally and it is the same as the St. Jude, never turns down a family for treatment and it is all free, and on the cutting edge of care for children. this is a great idea for a fundraiser though!

Wow! I guess a $100 really CAN go far these days. St. Jude is an amazing organization and it always brings me great joy (and some tears) to see how they impact the lives of children and their families. Thanks for including this!
