Emerald and Black

Tuesday, February 22, 2011

It's official!  My new favorite shade of my favorite color is Emerald!  I love how current the depth and brilliance of this color feels right now, especially when paired with black.  Take a look...

Cobalt

Sunday, February 20, 2011

Saturated and vibrant, cobalt is blue's most intense shade.

And in the shop now, a rare find!  We have a pair of mid-century cobalt blue hobnail lamps with 3-way switches and new silk drum shades.

Incredibly vibrant when placed in front of a window, where the cobalt glass is illuminated by natural light.

$175 for the pair.  Email inquiries to thegreenroominteriors@gmail.com.

Have a bright start to your week!

It's new to me

Wednesday, February 16, 2011

My hoarding tendencies have been in overdrive lately, what with thoughts of keeping the shop stocked and making changes in my own home (which is still in the planning/dreaming stage.) So when great pieces like these present themselves, what's a girl to do?

Consignment shop score.  It's going to stay at my house for a while, then maybe head over to the shop?

Fabric detail

These Chinoiserie lamps will go to the shop

Pretty brass Greek Key detail on the base.

And another pair of Chinoiserie lamps

Better with a shade, right?  The bases are a really dull yellow and are certain to meet a can of spray paint (Emerald green?) topped with a coat of lacquer.  Keeping these for my dining room.

This will stay with me and go in my foyer.  It will be sprayed high-gloss white and be reupholstered in this?

Finally, I'm putting the finishing touches on these French twin beds (I have both) They were that lovely dull cream color that was all the rage in the 50's/60's.  I've given them a wash of gray and then a coat of liming wax.  They'll be in the shop this afternoon. (Oops.  Just realized I photographed this with the footboard upside down.)

Any great pieces found you lately?

Hot! Pink! Love!

"Pink is always on my mind" - Mary McDonald

For Valentines Day today, I am resurrecting a post a did a year ago when I first started blogging.  Pretty sure most of you haven't seen it, since my blog was so new and I had about 6 followers!  It's dedicated to one of my favorite colors, pink!

In honor of Valentines Day, this post is dedicated to the most romantic color, pink!  I adore pink in any form.  Soft pinks are so effective in a bedroom or in a bathroom because they cast such a beautiful glow on your skin - and who doesn't want to look more youthful in the bedroom?  Although pink falls in and out of favor in the fashion and design worlds, it always has a place in my world!  Blush pink, its softest form, was wildy popular during the Shabby Chic era, but today's bolder  pinks are providing a sophisticated jolt of color in both modern and traditional settings.

In the spirit of Valentines Day, I am sharing my pink love with you!  Enjoy!

This first group of photos is for those of you who dip your toes in the water first ...

You must see this!

Thursday, February 10, 2011

I just love it when great post material shows up in my inbox! I got an email the other day from Lundy Wilde. She's the designer and brainchild behind Villa Lagoon Tile and a random Google search (about fabric) directed her to my blog.  One visit to her site and I knew I had to share this with the world!  Her company produces cement tiles based on designs, colors and patterns seen throughout Europe and the Middle East.

If you're not familiar with this flavor of fabulous, allow me to introduce you...

This laundry room floor is done in a patchwork of different patterns and colors.

Amazing as these are, Lundy also mentioned in her email that they are working with a manufacturer in Marrakesh to produce some Ikat patterened tiles!

You must visit Villa Lagoon Tile, this is truly the tip of the iceberg!

And you're welcome!!

Happy happy weekend!!!!
