Inkblots

Sunday, March 25, 2012

Did you happen to catch the finale of Project Runway All Stars on Thursday?  The winner, Mondo Guerra's inspiration for his final collection was "Therapy" since he said the last few challenges had been making him crazy!

My favorite piece of the collection was this ink blot dress created from fabric he painted himself.  Gorgeous! And he made it look so easy.  He just squeezed some black paint out of a bottle, folded the fabric over and this pattern was created.

I'm dying to try a project using this technique.  What do you think of these?

Inkblot wallpaper(!) from Porter Teleo

I'm thinking art project or maybe even trying this on canvas for seat cushions.

Congrats to Mondo!  What do you think of the ink blots?

Especially love the last image! So talented. I have done this with watercolor before. Sorry I missed the last few.
Have a great week, Kim.

I have bee intrigued by ink blots for a long time. I have loved the last picture too. They remind me of snow flakes, no two are the same.

Love that show! I think I'd like a few large ink blots prints on a wall :)

I saw that piece of art (above the mantel) awhile back, and pinned it (I think). It is so brilliant! Yep, definitely see a potential project on the horizon!

I haven't been able to stop thinking about them since thursday either! I actually added it to my 30 by 30 projects. Hopefully it turns out okay. I've never done one. I'm excited to see what you do!

The last image is captivating. Ink blots/Rorshach images are so unique that it's impossible to have a piece that screams "seen that before".

LOVE!
Who says they can't be hot pink or kelly green?

If there had been no images, just a description, I wouldn't have thought much but wow! I really like all of it. The art, the pillows and that dress - gorgeous!

I didn't watch this past season but I watched the one where he came in second and I was shocked! I think he is so insanely talented so I"m happy to hear he won. Love those prints and I think you're right. Easy diy project ahead:)

Neat, neat, neat idea - I've seen framed Rosarch (sp?) ink blots before in room designs and thought that was neat, but as wallpaper, fabric and pillows? Wow.

I remember as a child we had to make paintings that looked like this in class. Like it as pillows.

I had no idea that there was a new PR season out until I saw somewhere over the weekend that Mondo won so I guess I can skip it now. :)

I love the ink blots on the pictures and the cushions. It would be fun to make yourself as well.

I am *LOVING* this look...it's such a fun departure from the ever popular ikat, but with kind of the same feel (c: Let's just say I would rock that dress if given the chance!

I was a psych major in college, so this is right up my alley! Congrats to Mondo! I haven't seen the finale, yet, but I'm glad to hear that he won. He was my favorite :)

Wow what a fun post! Once I was looking at a piece of ikat fabric online at work, and my boss came up behind me and was like is that one of those "What do you see in the picture", so that was funny. With these they definitely remind me of that.

They are printed on old ledger paper.
