You can find the bulbs at Home Depot, Lowe's or Wal-mart and they usually come boxed with a plastic pot, potting mix and the bulbs. I usually buy them in the garden center where you can find bags of bulbs. I plant them in vintage containers and use regular old potting soil.

Potted bulbs make great hostess or teachers gifts, or keep them for yourself! They're beautiful when used en masse on a mantel or on your dining table.

Love paper whites! I had completely forgotten about using them for this upcoming holiday season...but now will! Take care, Caroline
Kim,
those bulbs are gorgeous! Unfortunately, I don't have much of a green thumb! They look beautiful in those pots! I have started my Christmas decorating and am really going to get into it today and this weekend, can't wait to get it out! You should come up and hit the flea sometime, good stuff!

I love paperwhites - last January I picked up 3 potted artificial ones from Pottery Barn on clearance - everyone thought they were real. I loved them on display all winter :)
Kim-
Thank you for posting this today! I love bulbs, and grow paper whites every year. I pot a lot of them and give them to friends when they stop by.
These images are beautiful.

K - What a fantastic idea! I am always looking for creative and thoughtful gifts to give. Love potting with the ornaments! You got it going on!!
Love, love, love paperwhites and amaryllis plants. They are such a bright spot on the season!
Will be getting mine this weekend! thanks for the reminder.
I'm always late getting them started. Thanks for the heads up! I've never seen them with the ornaments. Cute!
I love paperwhites.....thanks for sharing a great post with us today!
I love paperwhites around Christmas time! You're right they add a nice natural element to a space.
Hi Kim,
I came by your blog after you left a message and became a follower on my own blog. I wanted to thank you.
First, let me say your blog is just delightful. Also, I love to give potted bulbs as gifts...where I live in The Southern Highlands of NSW, Australia; we have a Tulip Time Festival and after the event, everyone comes from miles around to dig up the bulbs. It's a lovely time of year for us.
Anyhow, just thought I'd share that and to say how much I have enjoyed my visit to your blog. Thanks again for your visit also.
Warm Regards,
Kim

I'm excited to start decorating my house for the holidays!
What a great idea Kim. I don't know why but I have never thought of planting my own. It's an awesome hostess gift.
This is a fantastic gift idea! Love it. I'm doing my Christmas decorating in exactly one week. So excited about it!
By the way, my mom went by your shop last week when she was visiting Chattanooga and said it was awesome!
Thanks for the reminder to start forcing them now in order to have them bloom in time for the holidays. Usually, I forget and don't start them until mid-Dec. I love planting them in clear glass vases on river rocks. A tall vase keeps them from falling over when they get tall and it is fun to watch the roots grow through the glass.
This is great inspiration! Since it's my first christmas in my new home, I'm soaking up all the ideas possible :)
