Welcome Back You Awesome Brass Lamps!

Walked by many of these lately?

They're in every Thrift Store, garage sale and craigslist in the country and I've always passed them by.  Silly me!  Good thing there are  bloggers out there who are smarter than me and have embraced the brass lamp that I (once) scorned!

Here are a few that have been given a total makeover with some paint.

Pretty great, right?  I love them, too, but my favorite brass lamp makeovers are sporting their brass finishes proudly, although maybe a bit shinier.  And with new black shades.  Check these out.

The two images above are from Mr.Goodwill Hunting.  Have you been to his blog?  It's all about the stuff he gets at thrift stores and transforms into stylish decor. Go there, it's amazing!

These two images are from Christine's entryway at Bijou and Boheme.  Notice the new wallpaper in the second image?

Who knew you could take an ordinary brass lamp, put a new black shade on it and create this kind of magic!

I'm a believer now, how about you?

This is an amazing post. Thanks so much for featuring my lamp redos. Brass is certainly on its way back and they are so abundant and inexpensive.

I've always loved them I have a few but I had to stop buying lamps, I have lamp overload in my house. My favorite are the ones that aren't painted and sport the black shade, sexy!

I do see these types of lamps all the time, both at garage sales and the thrifts. These revamps are great. I'm inspired but I hate trying to find the new shades and I'm terrible at redoing those so I'm not sure I'll bite. Love the shiny black one.

I love making a "silk purse from a sow's ear"! I know a good Southern girl like you has heard that expression before! I've painted many a lamp in my day. When the shape is great, paint is the perfect answer. How do you think they got the one on the Apartment Therapy photo so shiny? Chrome paint, maybe??

I'm a believer! I spotted a pair of brass lamps at a tag sale last summer. Got the pair for $5!! They look exactly like Mr. Goodwill Huntings! All I have to do now is find some black shades and a home for them!

I love the lamp I bought at Goodwill, I spray painted it white and put a black shade. It looks great. Great post.

Thanks so much for including my lamps in your run-down:) I of course, love a good brass lamp. Mine were my mother in laws and I love how heavy/substancial they are. A pair of great drum shades (they're actually gold on the inside- my favourite part:) and voila...great lamps. Thanks again for linking back to me and loved your post!!

Nothing makes me happier than a good lamp makeover. It will be hard to pay full price for a lamp again.

Your post title cracked me up!

I love that look. In fact, my guest bedroom sported brass with saucy black shades for a long time. Problem was, they were top heavy and every guest that entered the room would manage to knock them over and scuff the walls.

My husband finally said they don't look "that" good to keep up the anguish over the nice looks and my love for that combo. So they have been replaced...and sent to GOODWILL!!!! I might need to check on these posts to see if they have been adopted by a new loving home :D

XOXO

Kind of makes me want to kick myself for giving away a set of brass lamps a few years ago. Spray paint is a wonderful thing.

I've caught the same bug! I've been looking for a pair of brass lamps that need some spray paint! I keep finding singles! lol

Considering selections like brass lamps for living room, there are many models you can make full use of. The attractive color of the metal makes a suitable match for designs of contemporary, or traditional decor which often has a classic presence.
