Okay, so it's really 5 1/4 yards.
Of this business.
Pretty gorgeous, no? I found it here in town (Associated Fabrics for you locals). I had seen this fabric on the 50% off rack time after time thinking it would still be there if I ever decided I couldn't live without it. But when I went in there last week the roll was noticeably thinner.
And the print is discontinued. So what was I to do?!?!?? This was a purchasing situation if I've ever had one. And I have.
And so I find myself with a bit of a conundrum. What to do with 5 yards of this fabric. 5 yards is a challenging amount. It's too much for doing just the seat cushions for my dining room chairs. And the print is big and I don't think you could appreciate the beauty and the fabulous movement of the fabric.

And it's not enough to recover a pair of these chairs I got for my living room.

So for now, I'm thinking about making a showstopper kind of wall treatment with it.
Maybe one enormous framed panel as a backdrop for my dining room buffet? Something like this...
Or even two smaller framed panels flanking each side of my dining room buffet. Like this. (Insert my buffet for the french doors in the photo below)
That's the direction for this week, anyway.
Do you have any other ideas for my 5 yards of fabric?

I vote for the wall feature ... One LARGE one ... I am all about BIG right now and this fabric is too beautiful to split up!! xo

I have that fabric. Two curtain Pamela that are 96" in length. It is GORGEOUS! What about roman shades?

ReplyDeleteI love that idea and the nice thing is that you could always use the fabric down the road if you want.
ReplyDeleteIf you have the name of the fabric (it is GORGEOUS!!) you might try eBay. You can save your search to receive updates when more is for sale. I'd do some digging online as well, and even call the manufacturer to see if they have more on clearance. That said, I think one panel or two panels would be stunning. I was thinking of doing the same with the new Mary McDonald Palais Chinois. I also think pillows would be lovely. I can't wait to see what you do!

Love the giant wall panel idea and before I ever read that far I was thinking the 5 yds of fabric would be enough to upholster a small accent wall (like in my foyer above the chair rail). The wall panels would be a great method for being able to use the fabric on an even larger wall creating even more wonderful drama. Robin

ReplyDelete5 yards is just enough for a 90" round table cloth, which will fit a standard 30" round table that can be picked up at any craft store. What a fabulous side or accent table that will fit almost anywhere.
