Would you ever expect framed bugs to be a part of this beautiful space?
Pictures of bugs might be a little easier for you to handle. These wasps are so bold in their oversize form.

I love these vignettes that feature natural objects, including bugs.

And finally, if you want to take a flying leap onto the entomology train, there's a wallpaper for you.
What do you think? Like it or repulsed by it?

Kim-
ReplyDeleteYou can come up with the most amazing posts!
I can't get accustomed to bugs anywhere. As a molecular biologist, I dissected and studied bugs so many times that I never want to see them again.
These examples are great I will admit! I have always loved pictures of bees even though they punch a bad sting.
Great post, and I actually like the picture of the bees in the next to the last image.
Happy Monday.

I really like framed butterflies! So interesting and pretty.

Great round up, but like Tiffany, I like butterflies. We'll keep it at that. Thanks for visiting my blog ~
ReplyDeleteI love everything about the second space. The light fixture is amazing!!
ReplyDeleteI don't think I could do it. I scream at the sight of the smallest bug - I'm not proud of this fact! I remember once when I put butterfly prints in our bedroom and all I could think of was 'Silence of the Lambs!' They didn't last v. long! :)
ReplyDeleteI think I could handle these ones, but I've seen some with like 100 bugs in one little frame and I can't help imagining if they came to life...
ReplyDeleteI love the bugs!
ReplyDeleteI think I like them in other people's home. What's the old saying-it's a nice place to visit but I wouldn't want to live there?
ReplyDeleteI think I like the butterflies better but that may be just for the color. I'd do it :)
ReplyDeleteLove it and love the post! I adore natural oddities in the home. I have plenty of my own that I've acquired during my years as a zoo keeper so they even have a personal story.

very cute post! I'm not fond of bugs, so I wouldn't want them around my house permanently since they seem to invade it on a daily basis. There certainly is a tasteful way to use it as a theme though, as you so beautifully illustrated!

I HATE all things steampunk lol, but I love entomology. Esp butterflies and bees!!
ReplyDeleteI can handle the butterflies, dragonflies and bees. Anything with wings. But the hard core bugs with multiple legs...I'm not strong enough.
ReplyDeleteI think its all kind of cool. I have been meaning to buy a few framed butterflies for years.
ReplyDeleteI like it! Anything with a little nature added to a space just feels so.. grounding, you know? There are lots of cool bugs out there - myself, I simply love moths, even better than butterflies!
ReplyDeleteIm going to have to pass on the bug trend! Butterflies I can handle but other lil creepy crawlers not so much :)
ReplyDeleteMaybe I could handle butterflies. Maybe.
ReplyDeleteI love the large framed picture. We were joking around here about starting our own collection with all the crazy giant bugs we find in our yard. That's the only thing I am not loving about Austin so far. But yes, they can be pretty cool in decor!

ReplyDeleteSince I am into the whole "natural curiosities" thing I definitely think these are neat!
ReplyDeleteHi Kim, I saw your comment over at Seeker's Bazaar -- one of my favorites!! I'm fine with butterflies and bees, but can't venture beyond. Really. Don't. Like. Cockroaches. Ick.
ReplyDeleteI've seen so much of this lately as well. There was a vendor at the arts festival we went to this past weekend that had these framed in glass. It was interesting but I couldn't do it. If my child wants one someday, maybe.
